Microsoft Changes impacting the Microsoft 365 Connector Usage Data Collection

On 1st September 2021, Microsoft changed the default settings for reports in Office 365/Microsoft 365 so that no identifiable names for users, groups or sites would appear. This change also affected the Graph API that Certero uses to gather usage and mailbox information. As a result, no mailbox or usage data is available within Certero.

To fix this, use your Microsoft 365 Administrator account to:

  • Go to the Office 365/Microsoft 365 Admin Portal ( https://admin.microsoft.com/ ) click on “Show all”

  • Select Settings

  • Select Org Settings

  • On the screen that appears, scroll down until you find Reports then click on it

  • A pane will scroll in from the right similar to the following:

  • Deselect the " Display concealed user, group, and site names in all reports " setting

  • Click Save

When your Microsoft 365 connector next runs (or you can do a 'Run Now' via the right-click Actions menu for the connector) mailbox and usage data will reappear.
