Configuring the SCCM Distribution Connector for AssetStudio | v5.2 and above

SCCM 2012 and above

  1. Add the User to the SMS Admins local group.

  2. Within SCCM, navigate to Administration > Security > Administrative Users and select Add Users or Group.

  3. Click the Browse button and select the user.

  4. Add the following security roles:

  • Application Deployment Manager

  • Infrastructure Manager

Add the following scopes

All Systems (Collection)

Click OK to save the user.

SCCM 2007

Achieving the same goal within SCCM 2007 requires a few extra steps in the process, as can be seen below:

  1. Add the user to the SMS Admins local group.

  2. Grant Remote Activation permissions to the SMS Admins group

  • From the Start menu, click Run and type Dcomcnfg.exe.

  • In Component Services , navigate to Console Root > Component Services > Computers > My Computer .

  • On the Action menu, click Properties .

  • In the My Computer Properties dialog box, navigate to COM Security Tab > Launch and Activation > Edit Limits

  • In the Launch Permissions dialog box, click Add .

  • Click the Locations Button (Found in either; Select User, Computers or Groups dialog box) then select the local computer and click OK . In the Enter the object names to select box, type SMS Admins and click OK

  • In the Permissions for SMS Admins section, select the check box to allow Remote Activation.

  • Click OK twice to close the DCOM properties dialog boxes.

  1. Within SCCM , navigate to Site Database > Security Rights > Users .

  2. Right-click the node and select Manage ConfigMgr Users from the context menu.

  • Click the Browse button and select the user then click Next .

  • Select Add another right or modify an existing one then click Next .

  • Add the following class rights:

    • Collection (Create/Modify/Advertise/Read)

    • Advertisement (Create/Modify/Read/Manage folders)

    • Packages (Read)

Click Next then Close to complete the wizard.
