Certero is now able to return device information from the Meraki Cloud.

Pre-Requsites

In order to set up the Meraki connector in the Certero Unified platform, the following pre-requisite steps need to be completed:

Step 1: Obtain the API Key

To create the Meraki connector within Certero, you will need an API key, from your Meraki Cloud dashboard.

To generate an API key within the Meraki Dashboard , go to;
Organization -> API & Webhooks page -> API keys and access tab, and click on "Generate API Key".

This API key will be associated with the dashboard administrator account which generates it and will inherit the same permissions as that account. You can generate, revoke, and regenerate your API key on your profile.

Step 2: Enable the Connector

In Certero -> Administration -> Endpoint Servers, right click on the Endpoint Server that will run the Meraki Connector & choose Properties.

Click on the Features button & ensure that the Meraki Connector is ticked, then click Save.

Creating the Meraki Connector

Once the pre-requisite steps listed above have been completed, you can then progress to creating the new connector in the Certero Unified Platform.

From the Certero navigation menu, navigate to Connectors -> Meraki and click the New button.

On the Details tab, enter a name for the connection, description and the API Key from your Meraki Cloud dashboard.

On the Schedule tab, you can set how often the connector should run, then click Save.

The connector schedule should be set to run after the network discovery process has completed. This is because the connector will match the API data to SNMP discovered Meraki devices in the platform.

Once run, you can check the Results tab to see if it has completed successfully.

Device Information

The Meraki devices are matched using Device Name and will update the following columns in Network Devices:

  • Serial Number

  • Description (this will be set to the Meraki product type)

  • Model

  • Last Contact Date/Time

  • Attached Device Count
