Dashboard Management | v8.1+

A dashboard is a customised collection of reports that typically pertain to a common theme, task or job function. Most Certero customers will have different dashboards for SAM, HAM, security, inventory health, etc.

Personal & Shared Dashboards

Personal dashboards are only seen & managed by you. You can create, delete, edit & copy your Personal dashboards.

A Shared dashboard is visible & available to users who are members of a Role with which the Shared dashboard has been shared.

Shared dashboards can only be created, edited or deleted by users assigned the SysAdmin role. A Shared dashboard is created when a SysAdmin user shares a Personal dashboard. Users assigned the SysAdmin role will have access to all Shared dashboards but only have access to their own Personal dashboards.

Anybody with access to a Shared dashboard can make a Personal copy and can then fully manage the Personal copy.

Default Dashboards

When viewing a Personal or Shared dashboard which is not currently your default, you’ll see the option (below) to set it as your default. Your default dashboard will be presented when you log onto Certero or when you select the Home button:

Role-based Access & Defaults

Role-based dashboard access & defaults allow to you create focused reporting views and deploy them to groups of Certero users.

Roles are used to manage access to Shared dashboards.

A Role can also optionally (and helpfully!) define a default dashboard which new users (who are members of the Role) will see when they first log on, instead of seeing this:

Users can over-ride a Role-based default by choosing own default dashboard.

Managing Role-based Access & Defaults

Users with the SysAdmin role will see this management option when viewing a Shared dashboard:

Note that the number indicates how many Roles have access to the Shared dashboard:

This option opens the Role Assignments dialog where the first tick-box makes the current dashboard visible to the Role, and the second tick-box makes it the default.

You can see and Role-based default dashboard assignments in the Administration > Roles grid, but you don't manage them from there:
