One of the most common questions asked by customers is how to check that Certero has discovered all devices on your network. See the instructions below on the checks you can do to ensure all your devices are discovered:

Check all Active Directory Subnets are being scanned

  1. Navigate to Active Directory > Subnets and check that all the networks are assigned to a name.

  2. You can easily filter under the Name column by typing null and it will bring a list of subnets you need to create a Network, Right click on the subnet and click Create Network .

Check all Networks are being scanned

  1. Navigate to Client Management > Computers

  2. Add a filter in the IP address column is not blank. Identify all devices with an IP Address

  3. Add a filter in the Network column is blank. Identify all devices without a network defined.

  4. This will display a list of all the IP Addresses that are not within the scope of a Network Discovery range.

Creating missing Network Discovery ranges

  1. Navigate to Administration > Networks and select New in the bottom right of the screen

  2. Complete the summary, discovery and schedule details for your network

Checking Connectors are configured

Ensure all the following Connectors have been created (where required) and are scheduled to run (click on the Schedule tab):

  • Active Directory

  • Amazon Web Servers

  • IBM HMC

  • ILMT

  • Nutanix

  • Oracle Database

  • SAP

  • VMware

  • XenServer

SNMP Devices

Ensure that the Network Discovery has picked up all of your core printers, switches and routers by navigating to Network Devices > Printers / Switches & Routers .

If they have not been discovered make sure that the network range in which that device is located, is being discovered within Administration > Networks .

Also, ensure that SNMP discovery is enabled and the community string is correct by double clicking on a network under Administration > Networks and navigating to the Discovery Tab and the SNMP Tab.
