How to add alternative connection details for Endpoint Servers?
Within the Certero Management Platform, you can define several different connection details that are used by the Certero clients in order to communicate with the Endpoint Server.
When making a change like this, you need to ensure that the clients will be able to communicate using the new method, i.e. they need to be able to resolve the new name that you are trying to implement. If you do not do this, the clients will not be able to report back to the Certero Management Platform and their inventory records will not get updated. Bearing this in mind its not recommended to remove existing connections, just add new ones.
Once you have confirmed the name resolution for client machines to resolve the alternative Endpoint server name you can then enter the Alias into Certero.
To add in the Alias under the Endpoint Server within the Certero Management Platform:
Navigate and log into the Certero Management Platform
Navigate to Administration > Endpoint Servers
Right Click against the appropriate Endpoint Server and select Properties
Head to the Website tab
Click Add New under Aliases
Type out the new alias (Remember to make sure it matches the binding you created on the Endpoint Server)
Click OK and then Save
