ServiceNow Integration App Overview

ServiceNow Integration App Overview

The Certero ServiceNow Integration App is a certified application available on the ServiceNow Store that enables automatic synchronization of IT asset inventory data from the Certero Unified Platform, into ServiceNow's Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

Key Features

Provides regular synchronization of the configuration items in Certero with the ServiceNow CMDB including:

  • Linux computers, storage devices, memory modules, network adapter and file systems

  • MacOS computers, storage devices, memory modules, network adapter and file systems

  • Windows computers, storage devices, memory modules, network adapter and file systems

  • Software versions and installations

  • SNMP-discovered network devices

Utilises native ServiceNow transform maps to enable customization of field mappings and matching logic, and scheduled jobs for control of the synchronization schedule.

Provides extensible data sources to enable synchronization of any Certero data into ServiceNow.

How It Works

The Certero app connects to your Certero Unified Platform via its OData API and pulls asset inventory data into ServiceNow. The data flows through the following stages:

  1. Connect: The app authenticates with your Certero platform using API credentials you configure in ServiceNow.

  2. Retrieve: Asset data is retrieved from Certero in paginated batches (up to 5,000 records per request).

  3. Stage: Data is loaded into staging tables within the Certero app's scope.

  4. Transform: Staged data is processed through ServiceNow's Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE) to create or update Configuration Items (CIs) in the CMDB.

All CIs created by the app are tagged with the discovery source "Certero", making it easy to identify and report on Certero-synced assets.
