Understanding Global Settings & Frequencies for Certero Agents
Within the Certero platform, the frequency in which Certero client agents poll the endpoint server and provide inventory into the platform can be configured within the Global Settings > Frequencies section.
This section of global settings is disabled for SaaS hosted customers as this is set during the initial implementation and should not need changing once the preferred frequency settings are agreed. A change to these settings for hosted customers can be requested via the helpdesk. On-premises Certero customers with Sysadmin access into the platform will have access to this section.
The settings that impact agent activity are:
Polling Interval: This is how often the agent will poll the endpoint server. It will always try to connect to its default endpoint server initially and then sequentially attempt to connect to other endpoint servers within the Certero platform if the initial connection to the default endpoint server is unsuccessful. the agent will poll the endpoint server to check if there are any actions at that time that the agent is required to perform, such as; running and providing an inventory of the device, enabling/disabling modules, updating the version of the agent etc. Our recommended setting for this is every 10 minutes.
Inventory Frequency: The is how often the agent will run the inventory process on the device it is installed on and attempt to provide the latest inventory data to the platform via an endpoint server. This can only be set on a frequency and not a certain date/time. i.e. if the inventory frequency is daily and a device runs the inventory process at 9am on Monday, the next inventory process will run at 9am on Tuesday morning from the first successful connection to the endpoint server from that time. Our recommended setting for this is Once a day.
