How do I allocate Microsoft Named User Licenses
Named User Licenses in relation to Microsoft are products such a Visual Studio, MSDN Subscriptions and Office 365 Subscriptions. Within the Microsoft Licensing module there is a dedicated section for Named User Licensing:
Microsoft Licensing > Named User
Listed in this section will be entitlements for Microsoft Named User Licenses. By default the required quantity will be zero.
To allocate the licenses to users right the license and on the actions menu select "Set Criteria"

This will present the Query Builder dialog box. Here you can create a query to identify a list of users from Active Directory that you want to allocate the licenses to. Alternatively you can pick an existing Data Group (Dynamic, Static or Custom Group) by clicking on the Group Membership tab. N.B. you will need a connector to Active Directory for this to work.

Create the query or select an existing group. In the screenshot below we have selected an existing Dynamic Group "_MSDN Subscribers"

Click 'Save' to register the query against the license. Click 'Update' to update the license position. This will dynamically allocate and remove the licenses based upon the result of the query.
