Bundling

To bundle IBM products in AssetStudio for IBM you will need to:

  • Login to AssetStudio.

  • Navigate to Dashboard > IBM Software > Licensable

  • Select a product and a specific versions.

If you see an

icon next to the product this contains a link to the IBM Licensing Information website which holds detailed information on how this product is licensed at a version level.

The IBM Licensing Information website will enable you to see for a specific version of a product (the parent product) a list of products (the child products) which can be bundled with the first product.

The IBM Licensing Information website should be used as the definitive list of what can be bundled with a product.

However, if you right click on the parent product version, and select Edit Agents this will give you an indication of which child products come bundled with the parent product.

You should note that you may need to investigate certain aspects of the product usage before you can carry out bundling.

An example of this is that some instances of Business Process Manager and Infosphere products bring with them some versions of Websphere Application Server Network Deployment. However, you will need to check that the instance of Websphere Application Server Network Deployment is solely used for Business Process Manager and/or the Infosphere products and NOT used for hosting other applications.

Once you are ready to bundle in AssetStudio for IBM you should right click on the product in question as above, select Edit Agents and for each hostname select the products under Matched Products you wish to bundled with the Licensable Product.

Once you have completed this you should click OK.

If you find that IBM Licensing Information is stating there is a product which bundles another product, but this is not showing as an option when you right click on the product version in  AssetStudio for IBM, you will need to bundle this by Excluding an instance of the IBM software.

You can do this by filtering on the child product, right clicking and select Exclude Agents .

Here you should again select the hostnames you are excluding and enter the IBM Licensing Information link in the Reason for Exclusion field.

If you find that there is an option to bundle a product with another in AssetStudio for IBM, but this is not stated as being permitted based on the IBM Licensing Information, you will first need to validate this this bundling is in fact permitted.

This information may be contained in IBM Announcement Letters, an online repository of documentation detailing where changes have been made to software licensing e.g. renaming of a product, end of support for a product and any replacement product names and divestment of products to other parties.

You are not advised to carry out this bundling unless you have evidence that this is permitted.

Once you carried out all your bundling, you should reminder to filter in the Status column for all instances of IBM software which have not been confirmed.

Confirm Bundling

Provided you are happy to do so you should select one or all versions of the software which are to be bundled, right click and select Confirm.
