Updating multiple user defined fields are facilitated through the ability to export and re-import the asset information within your Certero platform.

When the asset information is re-imported Certero will check for existing records, where there is an existing record the values will be updated with the contents of the file.

**Summary of steps **

1. Export existing user defined assets
2. Update exported data (in excel)
3. Import updated values

**Exporting user defined assets **

1. Navigate to a grid view where a user-defined section has been created
2. Select Export from the Grid Menu
3. Save the document in Excel format to a location you can retrieve it from in the next step

**Update exported data **

1. Open the exported data extract that contains your User-defined Asset fields in Excel
2. Update the User-defined Field cells within excel
3. Save the excel document as .xlsx to a location you can retrieve it from in the next step
