Enrolling a Corporate iOS Device | v8
Enrolling a Corporate iOS Device | v8
Enrolling a corporate iOS device is a two-stage process. First, Apple Configurator 2 must be used to make the device supervised, then it must be enrolled into Certero.
Making an iOS "supervised"
Use an appropriate cable to connect the device to a USB port on an Apple Mac
Run Configurator 2 on the Mac
Configurator 2 will display a list of connected devices. Select the required device and click Prepare (button at the top of the screen)
In the dialog box that appears, make sure Manual Configuration is selected and Supervise devices is ticked then click Next.

If the server required is already in the list, select it, click Next and go to step 8. If not, select New Server and click Next.

Give the server a name for future reference and enter the URL:
https://servername/CerteroEndpointServer/MdmIOS/StartOtaConfig
where servername is the domain name for your server.
The next dialog will ask you to trust the MDM server certificates – the certificates may differ from those in the image below. Click Next .

The next dialog will ask you for the organization name. If this is not already set up, you can set it up at this point. Select the required organization and click Next .
Click Prepare

Wait for the device to restart. The device will now enter the normal setup assistant.
Go through the setup assistant. Ensure that the device has internet access. When the device asks if it should apply the organizations profile, settings or configuration, say No .
Enrolling the device into Certero
Install Certero for Mobile from the App Store
Run Certero for Mobile
On your Application Server, select Mobile Device Management , Users
Right click on the user for this device and select Actions , Enroll Devices
A QR code will appear
On the device, press and hold the Ok button
When the camera preview appears, point your device at the QR code
Your device will read the QR code and the enrolment process will complete automatically. You will be asked to install the profile in Settings – the precise process for this differs depending on the device and iOS version but this step must be completed. The device may briefly show in Certero as a BYOD device but will switch to Corporate once Certero has collected the device inventory
